Comic artists are among the creators who have the potential to earn regular income because they are most likely to produce content consistently. Especially if the comics produced are in the form of comic strips.
We asked Nyne Comics for advice, to share strategies in managing their Karyakarsa account to be more active and earn income.
On every creator account profile there is a column "About Your Work". What should be written there?
The most important thing is that there is concise information about the creator and links to existing works such as social media accounts or YouTube or others.
How do you organize your support bundles?
Support bundles, created in tiers. The current support tiers are as follows:
Bundle 1, price Rp10,000. Contents: Exclusive content.
Bundle 2, price Rp50,000. Contents: Exclusive content + personalization by writing the supporter’s name as one of the comic characters.
Bundle 3, price Rp200,000. Contents: Exclusive content + the supporter’s face will be illustrated in the style of Nyne Comics.
How do you determine and decide what to offer at each level of support, and how much to charge?
In determining this, I have several important points to consider:
What we have. In this case, since my field is comics, what I offer will still revolve around comics and illustrations.
What we offer. To encourage people to support, there must be specific benefits for the supporters compared to what is free on social media. I have decided to provide exclusive comic content for all bundles that support on Karya Karsa.
Who our audience is and their purchasing power. Nyne Comics targets young adults and adults who already have purchasing power. However, since the purchasing power of these readers varies, having bundles allows everyone to support.
For those with lower purchasing power, Bundle 1 offers exclusive comic benefits for just Rp10,000. In my opinion, Rp10,000 per month is not a heavy burden at all. Therefore, the hope is that more people will support.
For those with medium purchasing power, in Bundle 2, I want to provide personalization as a form of appreciation and to encourage others to support as well, by writing the supporter’s name as a comic character. The price of Rp50,000 is significant enough, so it deserves extra appreciation.
Then, for Bundle 3, aimed at those with higher purchasing power who want to support more at Rp200,000, I offer even more personal benefits and appreciation by illustrating the supporter’s face.
How often do you post work and what is its content?
Twice a week, exclusive comic content for all bundle backers.
How do you promote your KaryaKarsa page, and which ones are most effective?
Often direct readers on social media to join KaryaKarsa. The most effective of course is to give a little exclusive content leak to make readers curious and check the continuation on KaryaKarsa.
What are your recommendations for creators just starting out at KaryaKarsa?
Be diligent in uploading on social media as well so that your fans stay updated. Don't just appear once in a while because then people will forget about you. Be diligent in appearing, diligent in promoting, eventually many people will like or be curious, and of course they will be happy to support you on KaryaKarsa.
